Per the National Cybersecurity Center of the UK government, the nation has suffered from 188 major cyber attacks in 3 months. Russia is said to be increasing aggression towards soft targets such as universities and local governmental agencies.
A former British intelligence and security officer, Ciaran Martin, told a local publication that the attacks are similar to those launched against in the DNC during the Presidential elections. United Kingdom authorities stated that there have been, “a series of attacks on political institutions, political parties, parliamentary organizations and that’s all very well evidenced by our international partners and widely accepted.”
The majority of the attacks are said to have originated from China and Russia. The goal of the increased number of foreign cyberattacks by the two countries is currently unknown. Martin told BBC that Britain’s national security has been threatened 188 times. The former defense secretary said there has been a total of 34,500 “potential attacks” on citizens and government agencies in the last 6 months.
